Tandberg to Demo "Device-Aware Backoffice for Multiplatform TV" at CableLabs Summer Conference

Ericsson-owned Tandberg Television announced Friday that it will debut what it is calling the "cable industry's first device-aware backoffice for multiplatform TV" at this week's CableLabs Summer Conference in Keystone, CO, and at next month's IBC show in Amsterdam.

Tandberg in IPTV Deals with Two Korean Operators

Tandberg Television says that Korean wired/wireless communications provider, KT, has selected its EN8090 HD MPEG-4 AVC and EN8030 SD MPEG-4 AVC encoders to support the launch of linear TV channels on its Mega TV IPTV service. The latter has around 700,000 subscribers and was initially legally restricted to offering only VOD. However, recent regulatory changes in Korea mean that IPTV providers can now also retransmit broadcast services. "KT is one of the world's most innovative telecoms companies and the Mega TV IPTV service has established itself as one of the leading IPTV services globally," Dario Choi, general manager of Tandberg Television Asia Pacific, said in a prepared statement.

Tandberg Television--the company which over the past two years or so
has purchased VOD infrastructure provider, N2 Broadband, interactive
TV technology and services provider, GoldPocket Interactive, IPTV
content delivery company, SkyStream Networks, and Internet video
company, Zetools; and which was itself subsequently acquired by
Ericsson--says that Portugal's ZON TVCabo has selected its
OpenStream Digital Services backoffice platform to support its planned
launch of VOD services.

customers, offers a range of pay-TV services over cable and satellite,
