Broadband video platform provider, Ooyala, announced Wednesday that Telegraph Media Group (TMG), which publishes the UK newspaper, The Daily Telegraph and its Web site, telegraph.co.uk, has chosen its platform to power its broadband video offerings. The deal--which sees Ooyala replacing rival Brightcove as TMG's broadband video platform provider--also calls for Ooyala to work with TMG's recently launched digital business unit, the Euston Project, to develop new technologies for the delivery and consumption of online media. According to Ooyala, members of its technical team will begin working out of the Euston Project's facilities next week.

Broadband video publishing solutions provider, Brightcove, announced Wednesday that Italian pay-TV operator, Sky.it (Sky Italia), has selected its platform for online video content management and for publishing advertising-supported, customized video players on its online properties and across the Web. According to Brightcove--whose other Italian customers include MTV Mobile and Il Sole 24--its platform is enabling Sky.it, which has just under 5 million subscribers, to extend distribution of sports, news and lifestyle-related programming to the Web, reaching a larger audience and expanding monetization opportunities through enhanced advertising opportunities.
Broadband video publishing solutions provider, Brightcove, announced Monday that it has rolled out broad support for Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5 through content delivery services provided by Limelight Networks. It says that Media Server 3.5 support will enable it to provide its 700 or so customers in 28 countries with turn-key access to enhanced dynamic delivery capabilities for HD-quality broadband video. The company says it has also introduced on-demand access to advanced security options for video stream encryption and SWF verification. "Organizations of all kinds today are faced with increasingly complex requirements around quality and security for online video publishing and distribution," Brightcove CTO, Bob Mason, said in a prepared statement.

The History Channel (UK), a joint venture between A&E Television Networks (AETN) and BSkyB, has launched new consumer Web sites for its History (history.co.uk) and Military History (militaryhistory.co.uk) channels. The sites, which were co-produced with AETN International and which debuted July 16th, feature a video player from US broadband video publishing solutions provider, Brightcove, remote recording functionality for the Sky+ DVR, and an interactive timeline.
