–Guide is Available via Broadband Video, Cable VOD
–Also Launches Holiday Promotion for UGC
Expo Communications, a company which operates an online and cable VOD service, called ExpoTV, that features consumer-generated product reviews, has launched a consumer-generated 2006 Holiday Shopping Guide. "ExpoTV’s community of contributors is an unparalleled force for smart, passionate and cutting-edge consumer information," Expo Communications CEO, Daphne Kwon, said in a prepared statement. "We created an outlet for our members’ holiday buying energy and are letting consumers make real-world suggestions about what to buy this season. ExpoTV’s community is driven from the heart when selecting great gifts. Their picks are not influenced by who’s got the biggest advertising budget."
The ExpoTV 2006 Holiday Shopping Guide offers a series of three full-length shows, each of which features five gift ideas for family members and draws on video product reviews submitted by consumers to ExpoTV.com’s "Videopinion" library. The Guide also offers five short-form shows, focused on gifts for specific types of recipients or within a specific price range; short segments devoted to holiday buying tips; and a number of individually selectable "gift pick" videos. It is currently available on ExpoTV.com and, via ExpoTV’s cable affiliates (which include Comcast, Charter and now–following an agreement signed last month–Time Warner Cable), on VOD. It is also available through ExpoTV’s broadband video partners, which include AOL Video, Comcast.net, Google Video and YouTube.
In other ExpoTV news: Expo Communications has launched three holiday promotions that give consumers who upload their own video product reviews ("Videopinions") to its service the chance to win cash prizes. The promotions, which are slated to run through the end of December (note: more information on the promotions is available on ExpoTV’s Web site), are:
- "The December Videopinion Promotion," under which ExpoTV has raised to 50 the maximum number of Videopinion reviews that individuals can submit during December, thus making it possible for them to earn as much as $250 for their reviews.
- "The Holiday Checklist Promotion," which offers contributors the opportunity to gain a $100 reward by completing a series of "fun, holiday tasks," such as uploading 20 approved Videopinion reviews and uploading one holiday shopping tip.
- "The Daily Holiday Bonus Promotion," in which a new Videopinion creator is chosen each day at random to receive a $25 reward. ExpoTV says that it will double that cash reward for any user of its site who spots him or herself as the winner of the day.
