US satellite TV provider, EchoStar, has begun using the new, OpenTV-built multiscreen mosaic (see [itvt] Issue 6.23 Part 3) on its DISH Network service’s "DISH Home" interactive TV portal (channel 100) to allow viewers to switch between six different camera angles during select sporting events. The first sports program to get the interactive treatment is TBS’s College Football Extra, which will be available on DISH Home in multiscreen mode every Saturday through November 5th (the first game to be offered in multiscreen mode was the September 3rd game between Colorado and Colorado State Universities). Viewers can use the arrow keys on their remotes to highlight each of the mosaic’s screens: when a screen is highlighted its audio feed can be heard, and when viewers select one of the screens, it automatically goes into full-screen mode. The screens show the high end zone, the low end zone, the goal post, the reverse slash, the reverse low end zone and TBS’s regular linear feed respectively.
