I wanted you to know that The Weather Channel and DirecTV have just launched a weather-on-demand channel bound app. We’re told this is the first ever deployed by DirecTV — all other ITV apps featured on DTV have been tied to special programming and seasonal sporting events.

We think this launch — along with our ITV bound app on Dish Network — may give The Weather Channel the largest ITV footprint among programmers in the U.S. market. Combined, we’re told we reach more than 20+ ITV-enabled subscribers with our two apps.

Do you happen to know if our “biggest ITV footprint” claim is plausible? We have no plans to publicize that boast — but just wanted to see if we could verify it.
