New York-area MSO, Cablevision, has signed deals with MTV Networks and BET Networks,
under which several hundred programs from MTVN's MTV, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic, CMT, Comedy Central,
Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Noggin, The N, and Logo channels, and from BETN's BET channel have been added to its iO digital cable platform's VOD
service. The programs, which are available on the service free of charge, include "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" (Comedy Central),
"Exes & Ohs" (Logo), "Baldwin Hills" (BET), "Blue's Clues" (Nick Jr.), "Franklin" (Noggin), "From G's to Gents" (MTV), "Brooke Knows Best"
(VH1), "Trick My Truck" (CMT), and "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (The N). Cablevision claims that its VOD service offers around 3,500 titles.

- The MSO has also added Versus On Demand and Golf Channel On
Demand to its free VOD offerings. The deal with Versus covers such
programming as highlights shows from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs,
the Tour de France and other sporting events, and shows devoted to
hunting and fishing, classic boxing, and mixed martial arts. The deal
with the Golf Channel, meanwhile, covers series such as "Big Break,"
"The Turn" and "Transamerica Playing Lessons from the Pros," as well
as shows designed to improve viewers' golf techniques.
- Cablevision customers who are also subscribers to Disney Channel
On Demand were recently provided with a three-day advance preview
of the Disney Channel original movie, Camp Rock, starring the Jonas
Brothers. Other shows that Disney has previously premiered on VOD
include "High School Musical 2," "Twitches Too" and "Wizards of
Waverly Place." According to the company, when it previewed "High
School Musical 2" on VOD, the show accounted for over 40% of all
Disney Channel On Demand usage in the week leading up to its
linear-TV premiere.
