Tandberg Television--the company which over the past year-and-a-half or so has purchased VOD infrastructure provider, N2 Broadband, interactive TV technology and services provider, GoldPocket Interactive, IPTV content delivery company, SkyStream Networks, and Internet video company, Zetools--says that it has received an order, worth more than $8 million, from an unnamed "leading North American satellite broadcaster" (believed to be DirecTV) for its MPEG-4 AVC HD EN8090 video compression system. The company, which describes the new contract as a "continuation" of the satellite TV provider's deployment of HD content to local markets, says that revenue from the contract will be recognized in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the first quarter of 2007.
