Broadband video distribution company, DAVE Networks (note: the company's name is an acronym for "Distributed Audio Video Entertainment"), has appointed Douglas Fulton as president of entertainment. Fulton, who according to DAVE Networks has extensive management and product-development expertise in the broadcast industry, will be responsible for new business, and will specifically attempt to build partnerships with larger entertainment firms, as well as with television networks and record labels. He will also manage the content licensing rights, agreements and entertainment offered through the company's DAVE.TV Social Broadcast Network. (Note: the latter, which launched in the spring, allows end-users not only to upload and broadcast their own videos, but to create their own TV channels featuring their own content, content from other DAVE.TV users, and ad-supported content from DAVE Networks' line-up of content partners.)
Fulton was previously EVP of broadband video company, Jump TV, in Europe and Canada, and on the board of Vizor, a Finnish company that launched that country's first cross-platform music channel. His resume also includes stints as SVP of Europe and senior advisor to the CEO at SBS Broadcasting, as well as as advisor to the CEO of Finland's Alma Media, and as CEO and executive director of SC ABC Plus Media (note: in the latter role, he launched three national cable/satellite channels, DAVE Networks says). He also received four Victor Awards (Slovenia's equivalent of an Emmy) for his work at SBS Broadcasting where, according to DAVE Networks, he increased viewing and network advertising from 3 to 24.5% between 1996 and 2001. In addition, he received two Golden Broche Awards. "DAVE Networks' dynamic combination of IPTV, user-generated content, and social networking capabilities results in an unparalleled platform for users, producers and brands," Fulton said in a prepared statement. "I'm looking forward to joining the DAVE Networks team and leveraging my strong network industry international relationships to help expand consumer reach by expanding its entertainment partners." Added DAVE Networks CEO, Rex Wong: "Douglas Fulton makes the possibilities for the growth of DAVE Networks even greater, and will help our network reach more viewers with the ability to offer a wider variety of mainstream content and entertainment choices. With an array of upcoming content deals in the pipeline, Fulton's expertise and success in the industry will aid in the facilitation and development of new channels and partnerships."
