--Delivery Agent Enables Contextual Ecommerce in Internet Video

Online content delivery company, Akamai, says that Delivery Agent, a company that has developed technologies enabling contextual ecommerce in Internet video, will use its platform to deliver its service. According to Delivery Agent, its patent-pending service, dubbed "Shopisodes," allows entertainment properties and user-generated content creators to monetize video by selling products integrated into programming: the company describes "Shopisodes" as "online interactive video clips that allow consumers to connect with and purchase products directly from the content stream." The service is based on a proprietary video player and a set of product-tagging tools. "Three of the 'givens' in today's media world are the importance and prominence of product integration, the explosion of online video content creators and users, and the advertising industry's efforts to reach and engage audiences," Delivery Agent CEO, Mike Fitzsimmons, said in a prepared statement. "Shopisodes capitalize on the dynamic merging of video and product integration, enabling advertisers to easily integrate brand messaging at the point of visual exposure; in effect, providing a direct connection with a consumer at the exact moment their product is seen on screen."
