ITV Taps Endemol to Producer User-Generated News Review Program

Itvnetworklogo2006_4 UK commercial terrestrial broadcaster, the Independent Television Network (note: the latter is generally referred to in the UK by the acronym, "ITV"), has tapped Endemol UK to produce a news review program, entitled "I Was There: The People’s Review of 2006." The program will be based on user-generated content that showcases "the news events of 2006 from the perspective of the citizen journalist," and will air on the broadcaster’s flagship terrestrial channel, ITV1. Endemol UK says that it is currently seeking photos and video footage for the show that captures "anything reported in the UK press this year; from the World Cup to the recent coup in Thailand." The company is, among other things, working with the photo-blogging site, Fotothing (www.fotothing.com), to acquire content for the show. Members of the public who are interesting in contributing photos must first register for free on Fotothing, and then select the edit/upload option from the site’s menu in order upload their pictures–which should be tagged "ITV." The photos will then be uploaded to a specially designated page. Endemol says that it will pay for any photos used by the show.
