“Degrassi” Interactive TV App Launches on Time Warner, Bright House

–Application is Powered by Navic

The N, a teen-targeted basic cable channel operated by MTV Networks, is partnering with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks to offer a single-screen interactive TV voting/polling application in association with a scripted series, the teen drama "Degrassi: The Next Generation." The application, dubbed the Degrassi Interactive Program and based on technology from Navic Networks (note: in the past, Navic has powered polling applications on select Time Warner Cable and Bright House systems for Bravo’s "Top Chef," NBC’s "Last Comic Standing," and Time Warner’s own NY1 News channel), is available to Time Warner Cable subscribers in Albany, Binghamton, New York City, Syracuse, and Rochester, New York; Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro and Wilmington, North Carolina; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and to Bright House subscribers in Central Florida and the Tampa Bay area. During "Degrassi’s" hour-long season six premiere on September 29th, the application presented viewers with four poll questions; during each of the show’s subsequent weekly half-hour episodes, it is presenting them with two questions (note: the application will be available throughout the show’s seven-episode fall season, which ends November 17th). The results of the polls are displayed on air during each "Degrassi" telecast. Examples of poll questions and multiple-choice answers presented by the application to date include: "Emma should date: a) Peter, b) Sean, c) both guys," and "Who’d win in a catfight: a) Paige, b) Darcy, c) a cougar."
