EchoStar in Push-VOD Deals with ABC and NBC

Echostarlogolg_1 US satellite-TV provider, EchoStar, has signed content deals with broadcast networks ABC and NBC for its push-VOD service, DISH On Demand. The deal with ABC sees the service offering free, half-hour promotional specials showcasing the primetime shows, "Grey’s Anatomy," "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives." (Note: ABC is also making the specials–entitled respectively "Getting into Grey’s Anatomy," "The Lost Survival Guide," and "Desperate Housewives: Time to Come Clean," and featuring commentary from the shows’ producers and from editors at People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly–available free of charge on Apple’s iTunes Store.) The specials debuted on the service September 21st, and will be available through October 4th. The deal with NBC, meanwhile, sees DISH On Demand offering the first episode of the network’s new fall series, "Friday Night Lights," from September 23rd through October 2nd free of charge (note: the show’s broadcast premiere is October 3rd). To access the new ABC and NBC content, DISH On Demand customers press the "DVR" button on their remote, then select "TV Entertainment" from the menu screen, and then select the title of the show they want to watch.
