Gemstar-TV Guide’s free VOD service, TV Guide SPOT (note: the service, which now reaches 20 million viewers around the US, features short-form entertainment programming, designed to help viewers decide what to watch from the increasing array of programs at their disposal in the multichannel and VOD universe; around 75% of the service’s programming consists of original shows created specifically for VOD viewers), has launched a promotion, dubbed "TV Guide SPOTTERS," that is based on user-generated content. The promotion invites viewers to submit short video clips about "their favorite shows, hidden gems and other TV moments": TV Guide SPOT will then select the best submissions and make them available on its VOD service. Videos must be digital and between one and five minutes in length, and viewers who are interested in participating can find out information about other rules and requirements on a special Web page ( TVGuide Spot). "Some of the most entertaining video content available today is created by everyday people, and with the launch of TV Guide SPOTTERS, we are giving fans an opportunity to showcase their best creativity to TV Guide SPOT’s 20 million on-demand subscribers," Dmitri Ponomarev, TV Guide SPOT’s VP of on-demand, said in a prepared statement. "TV Guide Spotters is a unique way for fans to share with other viewers their passion for their favorite TV shows, personalities and memorable moments."
