RBS in Red-Button Golf Sponsorship Deal with Sky Media

Skyrbsgolftips2006 BSkyB’s advertising sales arm, Sky Media, has signed a deal with Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) that sees the latter extending its sponsorship of Sky Sports’ golf coverage via an interactive TV competition that gives viewers the chance to win a pair of VIP tickets to The Open. The competition is running through July 2nd across all interactive service menus on Sky Sports channels: viewers who press the red button and then select "Win Tickets" are taken to an RBS-branded competition page. They can then attempt to win the tickets by answering a golfing-related question. The competition page also has the capability to capture the viewer’s name and mobile phone number for future contact. In addition to taking part in the tickets competition, viewers can jump from the competition page to an RBS DAL that offers golf tips from Open winner, Jack Nicklaus. The DAL can also be accessed 24/7 from Sky Active’s A-Z menu. The RBS promotion was designed by Sky Media in-house. "This campaign is a perfect illustration of how interactivity adds value to broadcast sponsorships," Sky Media interactive sales manager, Jamie Fitzgerald, said in a prepared statement. "RBS is building on its strong affinity with golf audiences to engage more deeply with consumers."

In other BSkyB news: the company’s Sky One channel has secured a deal with The In Good Company to broadcast Britpop star Robbie Williams’ Live at Leeds concert (takes place September 9th) live and in high-definition TV. The broadcast will be the UK’s first live HD broadcast of a music event. The broadcast will feature red-button interactive TV elements, including a multi-camera-angle application.
