Shorts from AtomFilms Studio Premiere on Web, Verizon’s V CAST

On Wednesday, multiplatform VOD and games company, Atom Entertainment (note: the company–which was founded in 2001 via the merger of AtomFilms and Shockwave.com–offers short films and animated titles on its AtomFilms.com broadband VOD portal and a range of games on its Shockwave.com portal; it recently revamped its AddictingClips Web site to support uploads of user-generated content, including videos, animation and Flash-based games), premiered several new on-demand short films on its AtomFilms Web site and on Verizon’s mobile TV service, V CAST. As a result of an exclusive deal with Verizon that Atom signed last month, V CAST customers can view the films on their mobiles free-of-charge as part of their monthly subscription to the service. The films were developed under the auspices of a program called "AtomFilms Studio," which Atom launched at the Sundance film festival earlier this year and which provides funding to independent producers looking to create short films and other content specifically targeted at broadband and mobile platforms. "The AtomFilms Studio premieres showcase our unique ability to develop quality original entertainment in partnership with the industry’s most innovative creators, and distribute it digitally to mass-market audiences on the Web, and on mobile phones through our channel on V CAST," Atom CEO, Mika Salmi, said in a prepared statement.
