Tut, Kasenna, SecureMedia Team on Oregon IPTV Deployment

IPTV technology provider, Tut Systems, says that it is serving as the prime integrator for an IPTV service that is being rolled out by a company called ComSpan Bandon Networks. Dubbed "FiberCast," the service is based on Tut’s Astria content processor platform, Kasenna’s LivingRoom middleware platform and MediaBase VOD servers, and SecureMedia’s Encryptonite ONE System conditional access/DRM software for broadcast and VOD content security. ComSpan Bandon Networks is a joint venture between Ledcor Technical Services, a network development, design and integration provider, and ComSpan USA, a competitive local telecommunications operator, based in Roseburg Oregon, that provides a range of fiber optic-based triple-play services to rural markets. The venture will initially offer services in the coastal resort town of Bandon, Oregon, using Hitachi fiber-to-the-home technology. It claims to have pre-sold its IPTV service "well in excess" of its business plan objectives: the service is scheduled to launch later this month.
