Voice-activated search and navigation technology provider, Promptu (note: the company, which was previously called AgileTV and which initially focused exclusively on voice-activated search and navigation technology for cable TV platforms, recently expanded its focus to include mobile platforms), has named Giuseppe Staffaroni CEO. He will also serve on the company's board. Meanwhile, the company's co-founder and former CEO, Paul Cook, will continue to serve as chairman of the board. Staffaroni joins Promptu following a 15-year stint at LSI Logic Corp, a company that develops products for the storage and consumer electronics spaces. He most recently headed LSI's Consumer Products Group, in which role he oversaw marketing, product and business development, and engineering of the company's standard products and system-on-chip solutions for customers in the broadband access, broadband entertainment and wireless markets. During his tenure at LSI, he also served EVP of its Broadband Communications Products group; as VP and general manager of its Broadband Communications Products division; and as VP and general manager of its Communications Products division. According to Promptu, he oversaw several corporate acquisitions while serving in those roles. In addition, he held several director-level positions in the company's Wireless business unit and in its regional market offices throughout Europe. He holds an advanced degree in electronic engineering from the University of Rome, Italy. "Giuseppe has an exceptional track record of operational experience in commercializing new technology across the globe," Paul Cook said in a prepared statement. "Giuseppe's deep knowledge of the broadband, consumer electronics, and mobile sectors will help accelerate our transition from a leading technology developer into a fully commercial solutions partner for cable and mobile operators. We are thrilled to have him join and lead our team."
