Two major players in the broadband video space–Maven Networks and thePlatform–have announced a partnership that sees the integration of Maven’s Maven Media System (MMS) with thePlatform’s Media Publishing System (MPS). The companies claim that their combined offering will make it faster and less expensive for media companies to launch scalable Internet TV experiences, and that it addresses such Internet TV requirements as media and content management, business process integration and media control, workflow and publishing. "The design of our technology makes integration with third-party content tools, such as the industry-leading offerings from thePlatform, affordable and easy to manage," Maven CEO, Hilmi Ozguc, said in a prepared statement. "Combining thePlatform’s sophisticated content, metadata and policy management capabilities with Maven’s simple-to-use workflow and publishing tools and unsurpassed consumer experience capabilities enables media companies to quickly move media assets online, and deliver audience experiences that increase media consumption and drive new revenue streams."
At the NAB show in Las Vegas last month, the companies teamed on a demo that showcased Maven’s MMS repurposing media managed by thePlatform’s MPS. According to the companies, the technology combo 1) allows the rapid creation of video libraries within Maven’s workflow, publishing and player designer environment; 2) enables the delivery of highly interactive Web streaming and desktop download player experiences from within a single, unified Maven Publisher environment, using video, metadata and associated content, managed and controlled within thePlatform’s MPS; 3) enables the secure transfer of content published through the Maven MMS by leveraging MPS’s rules management capabilities; and 4) provides turn-key commerce enablement, including encryption and DRM, for both streaming and download solutions.
