Navic Networks says that Cox Communications is deploying its Targeted Advertising
platform in its San Diego system. The MSO has used the platform in its Phoenix and Tucson systems for over two years now, where, according to Navic, it enhances thousands of commercials every day. "The value of Navic’s Targeted Advertising solution has been proven in Phoenix and Tucson, and we look forward to offering this enriched advertising product to our customers in San Diego," David Porter, director of new media business development for Cox’s advertising sales arm, Cox Media, said in a prepared statement. "Navic’s interactive solutions engage viewers while at the same time providing advertisers with new ways to connect with their customers. The advertiser and the viewer are both getting a more valuable, targeted experience." According to Navic, its Targeted Advertising solution allows operators to target messages to viewers by demographic, geographic and self-segment profiles; supports telescoping from 30-second linear TV commercials to long-form video advertising content; allows viewers to use their remote controls to request more information; and allows operators to update commercial messages with late-changing data, such as price reductions, product specials and extended sale dates.
