IPTV and VOD technology provider, Kasenna, says that Swiss power utility and communications service provider, Sierre-Energy, has decided to use the Kasenna PortalTV application suite to expand the deployment of IPTV services by its subsidiary, Television Sierre (TVSierre). The expanded roll-out follows a phase-one deployment to 100 "friendlies" that began February 1st. TVSierre has around 22,000 customers. The PortalTV suite consists of Kasenna’s LivingRoom middleware platform and client SDK, its MediaBase video servers, and its vFusion video network management software. The SierraTV deployment sees it enabling various advanced services, including VOD and network PVR. "Advanced IPTV services are a key success factor for us in our business and have quickly become a critical differentiator for service providers," Arthur Clivaz, head of sales, marketing, and finance at Sierre-Energy, said in a prepared statement. "Deploying Kasenna’s open standards-based, flexible IPTV solution will enabled TVSierre to gain significant competitive advantage by being first to offer customers the latest video entertainment services ??with customizable features and much faster than some of the larger operators. We are excited to roll out these services to a broader population now, providing them with a completely unique and enhanced IPTV and VOD user experience." Kasenna says that a number of tier 1 and tier 2 IPTV service providers around the world are now using its PortalTV suite, including Italy’s Fastweb and Spain’s JazzTel.
