Israeli IPTV middleware and applications provider, Orca Interactive, says that it is working with systems integrator, Telrad Networks, to deploy an IP/MPLS-based triple-play (i.e. voice, video and data) offering for NewNet Telecommunications, the second-largest telecom operator in the Republic of Georgia. The offering will initially be available in 10 large urban areas, including Tbilisi and Kutaisi; a second roll-out phase will bring it to more remote areas. It will be based on a new, next-generation network infrastructure which Orca and Telrad say has been designed to meet NewNet’s growth and capacity requirements for the next 10 years. The deployment will see Orca’s RiGHTv middleware supporting an IPTV service that will feature broadcast TV and VOD, and that will also be based on Amino set-top boxes, BitBand video servers, and Optibase IPTV platforms.
