Coca-Cola Taps Weapon7 for Sprite 3G Interactive TV Ad

Weapon7sprite_3gprint12006 The Coca-Cola Company has tapped interactive agency, Weapon7, to create an interactive TV ad for its new Sprite 3G brand. The i-ad, which will run on the Sky platform for around a month, is reached via a linear TV commercial that invites viewers to press red to receive either a free can of Sprite 3G or a free download for their mobile of a new "baby sprite" character associated with the 3G brand. Notably, the i-ad features an exclusive animated sequence that shows the baby sprite character being born on the top deck of a classic Routemaster double-decker bus, sitting on a bus seat next to a can of Sprite 3G, and trying to persuade viewers to choose him over the can. Weapon7 claims that the new i-ad "represents the first time that animation has been created specifically" for digital interactive television. The animated sequence was written and art directed by Weapon7’s Mark Brown and Simon Smith respectively, with post production handled by Glassworks.
