Interactive Content Competition, "Content 360," Launched

Miliacontent260logo2006 MIPTV featuring MILIA 2006 (note: the rather clumsily named event--which will take place in Cannes, France April 3rd through 7th--is comprised of the MIPTV programming formats market and the MILIA interactive content conference) is launching "Content 360," an international competition designed to commission innovative, interactive content and applications for mobile and broadband. According to MIPTV/MILIA, the winning projects will receive a share of a 75,000-Euro development fund. The competition is being organized in partnership with the BBC and the Korean Broadcasting Commission: it will invite multimedia and application developers to present original ideas which "fully exploit the creative potential of new digital platforms and maximize the interaction between audiences and broadcast TV." Entrants will be invited to respond to a series of creative briefs before February 14th; then nominees in four categories will pitch their projects to a judging panel of BBC commissioners on April 5th and 6th at MIPTV featuring MILIA. Content developers will also be invited to compete for a "DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)/MobileTV Content and Applications Award," presented by the Korean Broadcasting Commission. A call for entries to Content 360 will be sent out shortly: according to its organizers, the initiative will specifically encourage projects that involve user-generated content and "maximum interactivity."
