Yahoo! has named interactive TV-industry veteran, Paul Marcum, general manager of its youth content, which includes such offerings as Yahooligans! and Yahoo! Education. He will report to Shawn Hardin, VP of content operations at Yahoo! Media Group, and will be responsible for all aspects of the company's youth-oriented content offerings, including overseeing product development, operations and partner relationships.
Marcum joins Yahoo! from Sesame Workshop, where he oversaw all that company's digital and interactive media initiatives, including its Web site, sesamestreet.com. During his seven-year stint at that company, he developed new distribution models for it that covered VOD, ITV and wireless. He also won a number of awards for producing innovative content. Prior to that, he was an executive producer at Modem Media, and also created and managed Hal Riney & Partners/Heartland's first interactive group. "Paul's talent and expertise in developing compelling content properties for digital distribution will be an essential asset to the continued evolution of Yahoo!'s offerings for the youth and young adult market," Yahoo!'s Hardin said in a prepared statement. "More than two-thirds of Americans ages six to 24 who are online, are already Yahoo! users--that's more than 34 million people. We know that Paul's leadership will help to make Yahoo! an even more essential place for that entire audience."
