VOD distribution services company, TVN Entertainment, is providing its affiliates with a series of 30-second spots, intended to educate consumers about VOD. The spots, which are being backed up with direct mail campaigns, are designed to promote the convenience, functionality and ease-of-use of VOD. This is not the first time that TVN has conducted a consumer marketing campaign for VOD: earlier this year, it partnered with NBC Universal, Paramount, Twentieth Century Fox, and Warner Bros. on a "Watch & Win" consumer awareness promotion for MSO’s, Bresnan, Charter, and Mediacom. According to TVN, the promotion resulted in double-digit increases in new VOD users and an increase in movie buy-rates, both during and after the promotion, for the MSO’s that participated in it. "Video-on-Demand is maturing into an outstanding product and we are confident that, once customers understand it and try it, they will become loyal enthusiasts," TVN’s VP of marketing, Amy Kan, said in a prepared statement. "Watch & Win illustrated for us that sampling of Video-on-Demand leads consumers to active usage. That campaign highlighted the industry-wide need to continue to promote consumer consciousness of the Video-on-Demand platform. In these new campaigns, we demonstrate how easy Video-on-Demand is to use and how it can enhance the quality of television viewing."
